Graduation

Well, Graduation is OVER and what a day it was. Ceremony was WAY too early in the morning (8am) but we made it through. Mom, Dad and LeAnne and Jay went to the Bookstore while Ben and I tried to track down the few Broadcasting people that were still hanging around, which weren't many. Ben and I said Hi to the teacher whose class we met in, and then went home. Well, we figured the family would be home by then, but no. So Ben and I were locked out of the house for a good 30 minutes. Fortunately, our neighbors Stacy and Peirce were home and played some nice music that we listened to while we waited.

The Whole family went out to lunch at the Macaroni Grill, and we all got very full and sleepy. They day ended with a movie, the Soloist, and saying goodbye to Ben's parents and brother Eric. Mom and Dad went up to Logan the next day to see Jay and LeAnne and the kids. Wait, I should probably rephrase that. Mom and Dad went up to see the kids, where Jay and LeAnne were also! :) Who can blame them, those kids are too cute for words.

Mom and Dad gave me a beautiful picture/painting of the Sacred Grove that will go in an undetermined location, and Jason and LeAnne gave me an awesome frame for my diploma with the BYU Crest and Emblem on it and a Willow Tree statue of a girl holding a book. There is no better dipiction of me. I am so grateful for all of my family that was able to come, and missed all those who couldn't.

Graduation sparks a lot of questions that are coming to mind... and we will see what the future brings us next. Whatever it is, it is sure to be a great adventure. We head off to Hawaii tomorrow, Pierce and Stacy to Puerto Rico for two months (we will miss them terribly) and then the job hunt begins, officially.

We'll see you all in a week when we're nice and tan! Love to all.

Say a little prayer

A friend of mind is having surgery today. You probably don't know him, that's okay. Just keep a little prayer in your heart.

Thanks,

Meg

Next Week!

The Countdown continues...

Such a Pain in my...

There is something wrong with my back. Lately, like in the last two weeks, I have had severe back pain on the lower right side. This is especially painful when I work and have my school/camera bag on. However, it can also hurt when I'm sitting at my computer doing nothing (like now). The thing that really sucks is that I have to keep giving away my shifts at work because it feels like there is a knife slowly turning in my back. The other thing that really sucks is that no one can see the pain. If you break your arm or something, that is evidence that you are hurt. No one can see how badly my back hurts, so they don't know if I'm really in pain or how much pain. Let me tell you, it's a lot. So if you see my hand on my back, that is probably the reason why. I've been to the chiropracter one time, so maybe now it's time for a massage. Hum...

Heads are going to roll....

If you read the above caption underneath a picture of members of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles, you will see that it says "Twelve Apostates". Before anyone freaks out, let me assure you this was not on purpose. This caption appeared in the Daily Universe, which for those of you who don't know, is the BYU Newspaper.

A teacher quickly saw the mistake, at around 6:30-7 a.m. and they pulled all the papers. They put up signs that a mistake had been made, didn't disclose what it was, and the paper would be reissued, at the high price of $10,000! No wonder newspapers are going down the toliet!

We in the broadcasting department thought it was kind of funny. What I thought was a little ridiculous was the school reaction. Obviously, it was a HUGE mistake. But I heard from some sources a couple of things that were going down.

1.) They had a huge lecture, in more than one class, from their teachers about how big an issue this was! AND I heard that the teachers were MAD at the students. Wait a minute... isn't this a student published paper? Isn't this a CLASS? Isn't this about learning and making mistakes that we can learn from? Oh wait, I forgot this was BYU and we are all perfect. Wait....

2.) I also heard that the mistake was made because there is usually 3 or more channels that the paper goes through to get published, and for some reason, only the girl who wrote the caption saw it. She missed it (obviously) but no one else was there to see it or correct it. Her fault? Not entirely. Looks like a team mistake.

3.) A professor said that he was sure that the men in this photo (the 12 apostles) probably understood the mistake and felt bad for the girl. I am sure this is true. He then continued to say, "But I'm sure these men were hurt by that mis-caption". Uhh... I highly doubt that. I think these men, above all others, understand that people are HUMAN and that we all make mistakes. This is a very simple, albeit very taboo mistake. I even showed someone the caption and asked, "Anything wrong with that?" He read it out loud and said Apostles instead of Apostates. I told him he missed it. He was even looking for a mistake!

This teacher continued to say someone HAD to get fired for this mistake. I think that is ridiculous! If we are really BYU, our CHURCH sposored school, shouldn't we practive FORGIVNESS? Hello!!

I think that the 12 Apostles probably had a good chuckle over this. Even joked about it. All through yesturday when people were talking about it (yes, this is excitement at BYU), i thought of the Queen from Alice in Wonderland. When she gets her mallot stuck under her dress and flips over she screams, "Someone's head is going to roll for this!" That's all I kept hearing in my head. Yes, I know this proves that I am a crazy Disney freak as always.

So, my question is: Should someone's head roll for this? Should this student fail the class for a one simple mistake? I have my own opinion, what is yours?

Things to come... hopefully

First off: I apologize. I am not going to be a nice person for the next few weeks. School is wrapping up and I feel like the picture above me. So along with not wanting to go or participate in school, I don't want to go to work either. I just want to go to Hawaii. Is that so much to ask?
I keep daydreaming about what I'll do when I graduate. Here are some highlights.
Golf. I am going to golf more this summer and prove to my husband that I am the woman I said I was when we got married.
Play myself silly and Sleep. So wonderfully illustrated by Ben and Ryan.Hopefully get a job here so that I don't have to work...Here anymore. Not that I don't love all of you, I do. But hopefully it'll be time to hang up the apron.
And lastly... spend more time with my Best Friend....
THAT above all else is what I am the MOST looking forward to.
